Silverton Pet Parade
|
| |
On May 21st, 2005, the Silverton community sponsors its annual Pet Parade. The oldest parade of its kind on the West Coast.
Part of the days festivities include a Bobbie look-a-like contest before the parade with all entrants eligible for a place of honor in the parade.
Susan Stelljes, author of "Wonder Dog" one of the judges in the contest and will also be available to sign copies of her new book.
You can stand on the streets of Silverton and be transported back to the 1930's when the tradition began. So little has changed since then. A few more motorized vehicles and few less farm animals. Not only a delightful nostalgic event, but with adorable pets too! Animal nuts can go nuts!
Wrap yourself around some fur, adopt a pet!

STATESMAN-JOURNAL REVIEW
|
| |
On a long shot, I submitted WONDER DOG to the Statesman-Journal in Salem and was surprised to find that Mr. Don Hays reviewed in the Sunday, March 6th edition.
I quote:
"This isn't the first book to tell his story, but it is nicely done with some pleasant drawings. It is unfortunately, told in first person by Bobbie, which is annoying."
I am simply glad to get a review and the coverage. Some people will find the point of view annoying or whatever but I know there are those who don't. Mr. Hays seemed to have a problem with Bobbie being referred to as Silverton Bobbie rather than Silverton's Bobbie. I did that so as not to confuse it with the other book by Judith Kent.
I am excited about getting my first ever book review. Partially negative or not.
Thanks Statesman-Journal!
